Early Intervention (EI) of Illinois is a government-based program that provides evaluation and support services to families who have children from birth to age three who are either diagnosed with disabilities, evaluated to have significant developmental delays, or considered at risk for developmental challenges.

Early Intervention provides services such as evaluations, therapy, counseling, and education to children and their families to prevent further delays and to enhance overall growth and development.
Under Illinois and federal law, children under 36 months who have developmental discrepancies (a delay of 30% or greater), or have a medical condition or disorder that places them at high risk for developmental delay, are eligible for treatment through the Illinois Child and Family Connections Program. Any parent can request an evaluation by contacting a Child and Family Connections Office (1-800-289-7990). To locate the Child and Family Connections Office in your area, go to the Illinois Department of Human Services. If an evaluation determines that a child qualifies for services, treatment is offered through the Early Intervention Program.
Julie Herr is an experienced, credentialed provider within the Illinois Early Intervention System. She encourages families with children ages 0-3 to make use of the resources provided by EI. She and her staff can work with families that are receiving services through the EI system, either privately to supplement it, or as part of their EI program. Julie Herr & Associates staff also provide private developmental therapy and clinic and home-based support services to families who do not qualify for EI or prefer to seek private services. This includes families with children beyond the age of three.
